i have had this radio over 10 years i was talking to locals and was told i have a hiss when i key up modulation works ok but that hiss like im driving a convertible any ideas the limiter was fixed years ago where some one cut it .it is on am and ssb please any help and thank you |

Sounds like one of the capacitors in the audio circuit is leaky. A blocking cap is used to allow audio to pass but stop the DC power supply current from flowing. Usually used in mic amp circuits between amplifier stages. 10 years is about the reliable lifespan of an electrolytic capacitor. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998
