MY FRIEND HAS A STOCK RADIO, STOCK POWER, STOCK MIC. the people around him are mad because he is interfering with the telephone and the TV. The Beam is about 20 foot off the ground and everything is grounded. He is on 11 meter. Now i know the beam will increase his output but the radio is broadcasting clean modulation. Nothing is modified. He has a 1.1 SWR. RG 213 coax . I know he might try a filter on the line but with the radio broadcasting only 80 percent modulation and low power a person would think that this would not be a problem. So, other than doing away with the beam what would you all suggest be done? |

If everything is as you say the problem is theirs not his. Though I suppose he wants to get along with them but legally he doesn't have to do a thing but with you being a long time member you probably have told him this already. |

What about his own TV and phone? Are they interference free? If they are, that helps prove the issue is the other equipment Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

No it does not come on his tv or phone or anything he has. This is with every neighbor close by. He is disabled and we try to help best we can. That is why I have come hear to get help. I can't figure this one out. Legal output on radio. radio legal. everything grounded radio and antenna. RG 213 coax. Like I said, I know the beam increase power out antenna but he is using a clean radio. not even a power mic. |

The beam is a Maco 103. I did not think that would be needed with the large RG 213 coax with the shielding being so good and a good earth ground on the radio and the antenna. You would think that the ground on each end would help take care of any problem like he is having. Yes the ground's are short with 8 foot copper rod's in ground. none of the rod's are above ground. |

OK. If his equipment is interference free, we can pretty much eliminate issues with his radio/antenna. My next step would be to arrange to have the neighbours to visit while he is operating. One to see first hand, that he has no problems at his home., The while still operating, take one of the proven non-interfered with devices to the neighbours homes and see what happens. If, as I suspect, there is no interference, we have proven that it is the neighbours equipment that has problems. If we get interference, as we have already proven that this item did not have issues in his home, we are now need to look elsewhere for the actual interfering signal. Maybe something close is mixing with his signal. Maybe something in the other homes is the real culprit. At that point, I'd consider getting the local Ham Club involved with RFI Hunting. Who knows may be they can gain a new member out of it. Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

TECH 237, From what I understand there is a lot of splices in the telephone company main line and the tv line. Also these neighbor's have cheap telephone's. Like you said the problem has to be other than his equipment. He, like myself hate to have trouble with the people next door. All you hear is we will call FCC or we will shoot your antenna down and cut your coax and we can't convince them that it is not his station. I will try to get him to get the people next door to do as you had said. Some people never will admit that the problem is on their end and not the radio operator. From what I understand the people next door don't have any filter's on the tv cable in their home either. Thanks for the advice. I figure this will be a long process. |

You can email me if you need further help. Wish I was close to come over and do an investigation. Joins, especially if corroded or dirty, can actually cause a signal to be re-radiated that not only affect the home they are located in but houses around the. (found that out courtesy of a weldmesh fence many years back). If I havent lost it (when I accidently made my 1TB external drive think it was a 700Kb drive) - I"ll post an article I've been working on concerning RFI over the weekend Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

Thank you TECH 237, Looking forward to the article very much. I am old and no matter how old we get or how much we think we know or know my experience is that you are never to old to learn. I read an FCC article about something like this and with this being perfectly legal system and it is inspected to be so then the people in the area will have to fix their end of it. So let them call. Will they ever get a surprise . |

If there is RFI with the cable TV system and telephone service, call the providers to come out and see if they can clear up the interference. |
