I just fired up my original D201 after 33 years on the shelf. It "works", but I've noticed that the USB transmit frequency is "off" more so than AM or LSB, so I consulted the tech manual and decided that I would first attempt to measure/align the synthesizer per page 38 of the tech manual. The 4 MHz portion of the alignment went off without a hitch; I was able to align each of the four channels by monitoring the frequency on J100a and making very small adjustments to each of the respective adjustment pots.

However, when I move to the 20 MHz alignment, that is another story. Now, I'm monitoring J100B and see that most of the channel groups (i.e. group of 4 channels) are off by ~1KHz except for 17-20, which are spot on. However, adjusting the designated pot makes no difference whatsoever. This is true of every channel I tried thus far.

I find it hard to believe that ALL of the pots are non-functional (especially when the corresponding 4 MHz pots on the same board adjusted just fine).

Anybody have any insight to offer as to what I may be doing wrong or why the radio is behaving in this way?

Nevermind.... I discovered that the manual was wrong and specified the wrong pots for adjustment. (Seems odd that that gross of an error is still propagating on the internet some 40 years after the fact).
