I just bought a Malaysian cobra 148gtl. It is dead keying 5 watt but no modulation. Any ideas where I should start trouble shooting at? |

wow could be alot of things but need more info.
did ya try other mics
try mics that dont equire a battery
is the mic wired correctly
mic gain up all the way
this is just the basic stuff without getting into the more techincal part

I have changed the mic, turned the mic gain up and down, check the modulation on both am and ssb, no modulation on am, nothing at all on ssb. I did try the pa, I had audio using the pa. This radio seems to be stock. |

Check the wires on the mic jack and mode/pa switches, may have a bad solder joint.

if he getting audio thru the pa that a good thing
right? maybe what pressman says will fix it

Ok I will check the Mic jack out this weekend, Hopefully thats all it is. I let you know the results. |
