Base station 4-5 watt Uniden Washington with Amp.Unit works great, only one thing I've recently noticed. When you turn on Amp, then turn on PreAmp, no extra receive until Microphone is pushed, you hear Relay click and you have better ear's. Is this NORMAL ? Checks all say it is LOUD/CLEAR with good MODULATION. |

Most CB amps dont have output filters. From pics online, that one doesn't either. CB radios have low pass filters to stop the harmonics (54, 81, 108...etc MHz)and, unlike that radio, most CB amps are made cheap as possible since they never see quality control anyhow on account of them already being illegal. The antenna dont want the harmonics the amp makes and reflects them back to the amp. I think the reason you havent seen a response from the techs is because the company that runs this site has a thing for selling poorly made amps like that and they don't want to open that can of worms. This is why spreading the output coils in a radio to make more power is bad because that power is NOT on 27MHz. If you happen to have a dummy load capable of taking that 200w(doubt it), you will likely see a lower swr since the dummy load doesn't reflect the harmonics. This also means that 200w they promised you from that amp..... yep, about half of it is on 27MHz. If you lack the experience to add a LPF to that amp, save your radio and junk that thing! |
