307,there is amod for the 2517 that says replaceq-37 2sa43 to a ecg153 to improve clarity and volume of the modulation and run cooler. is there a mod like that for the vr-9000? thanks |

I don't know , however it is a fact "ECG" is a definate downgrade. ECG is a substitute , a very generic substitute. Actually the 2SA is better...

do you know what size i can use for tr-51 in the vr-9000? a upgrade,so that everything runs cooler. |

check out www.nte.com they have several upgrades;their version is 10 amps whereas stock is 7 amps.I believe you can go as high as a 15 amp unit in that case style. |

JYD use a nte37 for tr51 it is a 100 watt unit for the modulation.made my signal on ssb a lot cleaner |

where would i get a nte37? what is it 100watt 10 amp?and i still cant find c-134 wish i could get a picture of where its at.thanks read the post at the top of the page,have you ever heard of that?i think it is the one closer to the front of the vr-9000 i read somthing about changing that. |

JYD, you can change tr51 from a 2sb754 to a 2SB817, this is a 100 watt modulator and will stabilize the power on the board as the 754 has a tendancy to be unstable sometimes. I take it you have been on Firebreathers homepage and looked at his ept3600 series mods? Pretty interesting little site. |

no,i got some mods for a 2980 and it says to do this. i figured it would work on the vr-9000 as well,there is also another one you can change to for better clarity and make it louder. |

ok jyd share the other item with us dont keep me in suspence.I am always modding something.did a cobra 29 last week and doing a 148gtl this week.I still mess with my 9000 when I can find a mod.Sonoma |

For those jap. trans. go to radio shack and ask for their RSU parts catalog,you should find them in there,that's where I got my spare 2sb754. |

thanks jyd I will try it I have already changed t51 to a nte37 which is the same as the 2sb817 just the nte brand.made may radio a lot cleaner on ssb |
