G'day all, as I'm selling up in my current QTH all my home base set up will be packed away until it can be used again unfortunately. So in the interim, I'll set up a mobile in my ute. I'm looking at mobile antennas but won't be able to go with a 9ft SS whip at this stage which is my first preference, because the vehicle will be put into the garage each night. So what else is a good mobile antenna that can take 500w when needed but still look ok on the car? It will probably go on the roll bar of the vehicle |

Yes the Sirio pl 5000 does work very, very well. And I like that I have an antenna that does both 10 and 11 meters without re-tuning. It blows away my Wilson antennas. Izzy CEF#502

Take a look at the mobile whip on my car in the photo section. It is designed for Ham, but the 10m tip can be tweaked for 11m (tested using an antenna analyser), and will handle 500w without sweating. Its a HVU-6. Tech237 N7AUS God made me an athiest, who are you to question his wisdom?

I bought the sirio performer 5000 from a mob over in England as nobody in the US would sell me one because it was too long. But this place in England had no issues, so I bought it and it went on the Monday to London then to Germany then onto China, to Singapore where the customs had it for 8 hours, then onto Perth Western Australia where I am and was delivered on the Friday. Just waiting for a nudge bar to be put on my car and then I can mount it, hook it up to my Yeticom Optima M3 and key it up and see who's listening. Cheers Dale |
