My buddy has the Connex 3300 HP and said he baught it from some guy at a truckstop. He said on his mobile watt meter it was swinging 30 watts and have heard him talk on it and it didn`t sound bad. He wanted me to take a look at it and see what I could do. When I opened the radio this is what I found, no mirror board, no TP7,8,9. No bias vr`s. Now am I stupid or is this wrong? The test points have jumper wire in them, the modulator get real hot after useing it a while. After the radio gets hot it looses its dead key, swings to about 30 even after the loss of dead key, now I haven`t had any problems with my Dosy TC4001 meter so I don`t think it is my meter. Is this radio junk or is it me?

I'm no expert but I think you answered your own question.Sounds to me someone rigged it to run fullout on AM.Must be some damn good finals in there.Either the guy was a real hacker or he was sublime.

Sounds like a mix of Turbo hack and a failed attempt at a NPC.

My buddy said it was worked on out in Oklahoma,at least that is what the guy he baught it off of told him.Work like that is why I ask so many silly or inexperienced questions as I do. I have never had any REAL radio or electronics training and have had to figure out what little I do know on my own.I hate to see a perfectly good radio like that totally butchered beyond reasonable repair. So if I get on everyones nerves with silly questions please forgive me,,lol,,am just trying to learn how NOT to do things like that to a radio. I do appreciate the input guys.
