Yes we still have a older style console TV... lol
I heard the newer tv's are better with cb interference? I don't know?
Anyhow this older TV of ours is so susceptible to cb interference that I turned my Grant with stock mic down to 1 watt and was still interfering... (Voice coming through speakers)
Radio/equipment & antenna are well grounded...
First off we have Direct Tv (satelite) and a VCR hooked up.
I unplugged everything from the TV and still heard my voice coming through the TV speakers.
So after reading the ARRL Handbook I decided to try and apply 1/4" snap on ferrite cores on the TV speaker wires and on the TV's ac power line.
The speaker wires inside the TV went from point A to B without much slack so that's why I chose the snap on ferrite cores.
I purchased some 1/4" snap on ferrite cores (1 MHz - 300 MHz) and applied a couple to the AC power line and it helped alittle bit.
I then applied a few ferrite cores directly on the wires close to each TV speaker and it helped even more.
So I purchased more snap on ferrite cores...
I ended up applying 5 ferrite cores close to each TV speaker. (Two speakers) (10 ferrite cores)
5 ferrite cores on all 4 speaker wires close to the circuit board of where the TV speaker wires originate.
And a total of 5 snap on 1/4" ferrite cores on the AC TV line cord...

This totally took care of the problem even running 100+ watts now...

I was very careful to unplug TV and to not touch anything inside TV besides the speakers wires.
As you know playing around in TV's can be very dangerous...

With plastic cases, filtering left out to keep prices down (believe it or not), and cheap construction, modern TVs can be as bad or worse for both receiving and GIVING interference.

Good article, and parallels one I wrote for my ex-employer just before they closed my section.
