trying to find out why my install of echo will not work removed mod wire and installed echo in between but got no modulation so i reversed wires and still no modulation
any help is apreciated

Which board/kit are you using?
Most of them have a wire that go the audio wire and then a wire from the board to the wire you disconnected.
