G'day all, I've read somewhere that the above set up don't go we'll together. I've only read it once and it didn't say why. Can anyone with any knowledge verify this or will my TS450 work well with it?

Cheers
Dale

Will it work - yes. Will it work well?? Most likely not. Ham radios are better designed than "cheap" CB radios. They rarely need, and even more rarely work well with any form of power mic.

Properly adjusted, using the front panel controls, the 450 should already sound better than a cheaper radio using a power mic.

Howdy all, this set up is working magnificently. Mike gain on the radio turned to near on full with the mike around the 9 o'clock position and I've had great feed back with some people asking me what I'm using.
Cheers

The +3 was the best model Turner put out. It is the only one with a ceramic mic cartridge which gave it smooth audio with a slight rise in the 2-4 KHz range - perfect for communications. It was the only mic that had a compressor circuit with the pre-amp. It makes a noticible improvement on the air and when looked at on the scope. You won't need much gain from it when paired up with a ham radio, barely turn it on. Let the radio's audio circuit give any gain you may need.
CB since 1968; ham since 1973.
