have this radio and it can tx and rx when testing but when ant. is hooked up the rx deos not get any louder like it should and cant here anyone unless they are in front of my house ,plus the rf gain deos not work ! any ideas woukd be greatly appreciated.

well im no tech but from what you said
it seems there might be a problem somewhere
either in the coax or antenna.it maybe in
the rx section of radio too but id think it
would show up when tested.also check the antenna
jack on back of radio ive had a couple of these
come loose over the years

With the antenna hooked up what is TX like?
Even with a bad antenna, I wouls expect the white noise to change with adjustments of the RF Gain.

How are you testing the radio?

In other word MORE information needed.

thank you for all the suggestions on this problem! I found that it was the trace where tr 14,r50,r49and c39 come together had a short from when tr14 was replaced.then all that had to be done was adjust the rx cans.again thanks!your friend, big bear.
