Seems like the latest reviews on Copper's website for the Magnum 257hp have not been so great. Both stated the radio does not include the small plug that has to be moved to expand the radio beyond 10 meter operations. This seems strange. I have owned many Magnum 257's in the past and have always elected to save the money and do the simple freq expansion modification myself.
Maybe I missed something over the years but the last time I bought the Magnum 257hp it was not a problem to modify yourself right out of the box.
I was thinking of buying another from Copper but to have to spend an extra $30.00 to expand seems foolish. What if I ever wanted to change back to standard 10 meter only? Before this could be done by moving the jumper back to the factory location.
I also never found the need to tune the radio since the Magnum 257hp or previous versions always performed well right out of the box.

Does Copper sell the newest version of the Magnum 257HP? I saw a video review for one that had a built in talk back circuit. It also says Magnum 257HP on the face plate unlike the original version of the 257HP that only showed Magnum 257.
I don't blame Copper, just didn't know the 257HP had changed. I thought it was more of a quality control issue.

Radio Shack used to carry the two pin shunts that you could buy to convert these radios and many others.
