Put up a PDL-II which is in very good condition. First put it up just above roof at about 22ft. on a mast. Bottom vertical element was about 2ft. off roof. SWR on the flat side was about 1.4:1 and the vertical was 2.4:1. When I raised the antenna another 10ft. the flat side was still okay, but the vertical was way high. The coax is quality Beldin and LMR low loss solid core coax. When I switch from the horizontal to the vertical I can hear a loss in receive also. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks much.

Is the antenna on a rotor to turn it? If so, you do not want to use the solid core coax cable.

It is OK to use LMR-400 to get to the rotor, then use flexible cable to go past the rotor to the antenna.

Back to your point...

Obviously, check all connections. the PDL is orbital gamma fed, and gamma matches of all types are typically touchy. Let us know what the SWR is on channel 1 and channel 40, that will help guide you.

I will replace it with the Ultra Flex. Thank you.

I had the same antenna and getting a match is touchy. 833 gave you some good advice. He's our go to guy for antennas!

Just wanted to add a quicky. I had trouble with the horizantal on mine, two of the spreaders slipped and changed the overall element length. Sent the SWR way off.
