I have a m106 6element with a 31ft. boom. its 11m now but want to change it over to 20m yagi Could anyone help me with this project.

well a mfj -269 antenna anyilzer would be very
handy to start with.ium not sure if ya can
get that to tune there. might be able to
do it using either a external tuner or a
tuner built in radio if ya got one.sorry
not much help just not sure if thats possible

About the only thing you could use would be the mounting hardware. Everything would have to be lengthened etc. You could re tune it slightly for 10m or even hack it down to 6m.

BUT

For 20m your going to need every inch of mast just for 3 elements and the driven element is going to be around 35 feet long by itself. along with building/buying a suitable gamma match.....

11 meter is the 27 MHZ
20 meter is the 14 MHZ

The smaller the MHZ Freq the bigger the antenna becomes,So the elements on the m106 is not long enough to become a 20 meter yagi.

Basically, you'd have to double the size of everything, including the boom.

A GOOD antenna 'tuner' would work wonders for you. I use my Starduster ground plane antenna for 10m-40m using a LDG autotuner. Ten-Tec makes a fabulous manual tuner that will tune nearly anything.
