2SC2078 should be the stock final if it's like the previous 29's. You can get 20-25 watts out of it after a good tune and I really don't believe the mosfets are an upgrade. You might see a few more watts but the person on the other end will never notice. If you double your power (i doubt you will) you will only gain 1/2 of an s unit.

The rx 75 works but it's 10 lbs of junk in a 5 lb bag. A stock 29 with a good tune is hard to beat, but an amp behind it and it gets even better, then but a bigger amp behind that one...

I've had a couple of 29's and 25's plus the Unidens with same boards. I used the 2sc1969 final, there is a clone available if you can't find an original. I got good swing out of the 1969s. Like Jon666 says the rx75 will work well, but may be hard to find. A 100-500 watt amp with a preamp will make a mobile come to life. If you want to do the Mosfet change over, Copper has the parts. I got some 2030s from them.

10 watts dead key with 100 pep is overmodulation. A radio with a built in amp (factory or not) will never beat an external amp of the same size.

id try to find 1969s finals if not id get soms mosfets.then later down the road if ya wanna
get a amp a good 2 pill will do or a 2 driving 4
amp would be great.the rx75 IS nice in 29s
if done up correctly but it also limits future plans like a amp cause it will over drive most

I used to be all about having a hot rod radio but I finally decided that if I'm going to use an amp anyway I don't need a 40 watt cobra 29. A stock finals, a decent tune and variable power is all I need.

That's the great thing about this hobby though. There are plenty of options out there and all that matters is that your setup works for you.

Just got my new 29LX with the RFX-75 on it...5w key and 103w out. Plenty of swing and awesome audio...no amp needed!
