Ok here is the question? When you run a radio and amp would you run separate wire's from the radio and amp to the battery? Or can it work by hooking both positive wire's into one and to the battery, and negative wire's into one and to the battery? And if you did the two into one wire would it get hot from the draw? I did read in another post to use a 4 or 6 gauge wire would this be correct. Thank you Len cef#189 |

I have the batt- grounded to the frame and a ground wire for the amp grounded to the frame. I run a + power wire from the batt to the amp. The wires for my radio are connected to the amp power wires. What size amp are you using? Amp size and length of the wire will determine what size power wire you need. |

In the past when I have done similar the answer was yes. In fact at one stage I had a car with 6 different radios in it, each had a feed ran directly to a separate fuse panel that was right at the battery. This way, issues with one radio feed, did not effect teh other radios, but to be honest it really should not make any difference electrically as long as the feed to the battery is big enough to handle the total current plus a bit extra. I usually factor in 10% extra capacity. Tech237 N7AUS God only made some many perfect head, on the rest he put hair.

Thanks for the input. All I have to do is just find the time to do all the hook ups. Len CEF#189 |

8 ga wire would be more than enough but if you ever plan to go bigger install big wire the first time and be done with it. |
