--Hi, all. Been thinking about getting this amplifier and noticed that it has an MRF455 for the final transistor which is rated for roughly 60 watts. Sometimes I like to experiment and was wondering if there is a higher rated, direct drop-in final transistor? Now, I know that by just putting a higher powered transistor in place of the lower powered MRF-455 will NOT yield more power. That is not what I am looking for. Mainly, I am just wanting to put the higher rated transistor in to have more "leeway". I like to run amplifiers at a 1:4 ratio. For instance, if the transistor in the amplifier is rated 60 watts, I like to dead key it at 15 watts, so basically 25% or its maximum rating. Mainly, I wanna do this for experimentation and fun. Thanks for any help. |
