I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of, or know someone that has installed an rfx-75 in a washington base 858 version. I here alot of people installing them in mobile rigs but never in a base radio. 73's Cef#1011 Ham#294 From the Great Lakes State

yes, it will operate effectively on 11 meter and you should be very happy with it. Read the review in this site on this little amp and be satisfied if the numbers you get are relatively close to the ones in the review. Run it correctly and you will have it a good long time. |

I have never heard of anyone running one but I would assume someone somewhere got a burr up their bu-tt and did it. If you have a functional Washington 858 version that isn't hacked up by someone, drop to your knees and thank your lucky stars and then order a KL 203 amp that is near the cost of the RX 75 and you will have as much output and retain your versatility in operation. Along with keeping the President Washington with PLL 858 in operating condition. Trust me, then later when you want to upgrade to a larger amp, say a Texas Star 250 you can. If you butcher a vintage Washington 858 for the sake of 75 watts, shame shame. |

Ya, I have a very functional Washington 858 version. It has no parts removed or any added. I do notice that when listening on either lsb or usb the clarifier has to be moved to the 10-11 o'clock position to be right on. Not a big issue for me. I would say it is my favorite base cb radio ever. No bells and whistles just solid rx/tx performance. I would never put one in mine, I was just wondering if anyone has ever experimented with it before. 73's Cef#1011 Ham#294 From the Great Lakes State
