A belated Happy New Year to you all! I have recently aquired a FT817ND.It has not been modified yet for extended freq. TX. My intention is to use this radio for occassional portable fieldwork, field day and possibly from the mobile when parked up. I seek your thoughts on what antennas and counterpoise work best for you plus any hints and tricks you employ to your FT817ND operations. 73rds all round, John 41HN3800 / ZL1PO |

KiwiKid: Hope all is well in New Zealand. I have used wires for portable field work and also verticals. Most take some work to get up and working. I made it easier by buying two sets of mobile antennas for every band I needed and then bought a device to put two of them together to make a rotatable dipole. I throw it on 8 ft of PVC pipe. I have used it for Field Day and other Mountain Top excursions. 73, Marty KG6QKJ |
