I have a scantenna by antennacraft. My question is there a better antenna built to receive better and a stronger built scanner antenna. This antenna perform's well but is a little on the week side in high wind. I am mainly looking for a better receiving broad band ( 25.00 to 1300.00 mhz) stronger built antenna. |

In order to get your scanner antenna to work better, you could get one that is tuned, and has gain at the specific frequency you want. Broadband scanner antennas are a compromise. They compromise gain in order to work reasonably well over a very wide bandwidth. I have always had good luck with discone antennas. Check one out. Most of the commerrcially built discones will take a lot of wind and perform well. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

TECH 833, Thank's for the info. Something I forgot to mention is that the scanantenna I have been using does receive shortwave somewhat even though the freq's are far below the spec's. I will check out Grove to see what they carry. IT IS A SHAME COPPER DOES NOT CARRY SOME OF THESE PRODUCT'S. |

CB- Copper used to carry a scanner antenna made by Firestik many years ago. Today, there is little to no demand for these products anymore, so it makes sense that Copper would not want to use up valuable warehouse and catalog space for products they will not be able to sell. It would be really neat if the hobby got popular again, and Copper carried a line of scanner and SWL related products. However, until there is a demand, it isn't going to happen. TECH 833, Yes, I agree and I would love to see Copper grow and expand in many other product's as well. For example, some ham radio's or ham antenna's or automatic antenna tuner's scanner product's and short wave radio and so on. I do 95% of my shopping at Copper's and I am sure Copper could give the competitor's a run for the money on the price of these product's. |
