I am thinking of getting a magnum S-9 175...Just wondering if there are any knowen problems with this radio?? I have a normal S-9 and i like it,I just want more power....Thank You |

i dont own the s9-175 .but if ya want a noticable gain in power i recomend buying the texas star 500v. its a perfect match with that radio. dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

I agree with dale. I used to run my S9 with a 4 pill x-force and with a 200 watt dk it would swing to 300 rms and around 600 pep. If you plan on using an amp at all I would stay away from high power radios. I have a galaxy 95t pushing an 8 pill now and the 95t does the job but I could do better with a 15 watt radio and a small driver. I haven't heard of any problems but don't know anyone that owns one. I think Magnum builds quality radios but the 175's just didn't sell as well as I expected them to...I thought everyone would want one. |

I have had mine since march with no problems. Made a lot of contacts when skip is rolling. I use mine for my base with an anntron 99 thats about 15 years old.Radio is great on sideband also. |

Do a search for "sx-175". You can install it on the S9 you have and upgrade it to the 175 watt version. I knew about the sx-75 but was suprised to find this. Not a lot of places sell them but the go from $129-$149 depending on where you buy it. If you have a good radio tech it should be a breeze for him to install. |
