ust a quickie question... Has anyone every used a Maxrad MLB-2700-S antenna on a Magnum 257 radio or any type of radio like that? I am thinking about using this type of antenna on mine and changing out my 3 foot Wilson Silver load. Any opinions??

Thanks!

I use Maxrad antennas at work all the time.

I have an MLB-2700 cut for 10m band. It will handle 200 watts with ease on 10m, so I suspect it will take a CB radio no sweat too.

WOW that was a fast response!! Would you say that it would be better than the Wilson 3 foot Flex Silver Load? I would be using it on SSB mainly.

General rule of thumb when it comes to loaded 1/4 wave mobile HF antennas- The longer, the better.

A 4-foot antenna will outperform a 3 foot antenna 99.99 percent of the time, regardless of fancy configuration or marketing hype.

Case in point, the age-old Wilson 1000 claims when they beat the K40. Of course they did, it's almost a foot longer than the K40! But, if you need an antenna 10" shorter than a Wilson 1000, then the K40 is your best bet.

It isn't rocket science. More like tape measure science.
