I want to tune a top one antenna for up into the 10 meter band. Any ideas on how to tune it. The only thing I see is maybe shorten the top radials(Cap-Hat)? The swr now is 1.1 across the cb band and up to 28 mhz but starts to climb after that. Any ideas? Jim |

You need to shorten the two vertical components below the mounting bracket by about 2 inches each. You can cut and splice them with a slightly larger size tubing with slots cut in each end and hose clamps. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

I can't find your location in your profile, but if you are anywhere near me, you are welcome to a prototype Top One here at the lab that is built with adjustable elements on it already. I am not using it anymore. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

Thank you for the offer. I'm in the Louisville Ky area (just a little way's off from Cal). I'm currently using my penetrator for both 10 & 11 meter. The Top One I am just experimenting with for possible future use. Jim |

If it doesn't climb over 2:1 and you're not using 100's of watts, I'd use the antenna as is. The top one acts like it is a lot higher when run just 10 feet above bare ground. Good coax is a must. I miss mine. |
