Hi Guys, This is my first post on this forum in years; I have been really busy with military obligations. Because I didn’t have much time to tinker with my setup I sold my General Lee, Dave Made 1x4, and Wilson 5000. I now have a 2008 Toyota Tundra with a Cobra 25 (modified) with a Wilson 3' on a bed rail mount and let me tell you its terrible!! I just ordered the Predator 10k Competition Series Antenna and want to get a small amp. My question is what do you think my Cobra 25 would compliment the best? I'm not sure what the dead key or swing is, but I assume it’s not much on both. Eventually I want to put a straight 6 under the seat and drive it with what ever 2 pill I end up getting. Any help would be awesome, thanks guys. |

ditto ,THANK-YOU. as far as amp and all the first thing thats wrong is youer antenna is mounted at a average to poor location at best. ya get the 10k id mount it to the roof.now 4 amp i see 2 possibilitys 1]get a texas star 250hdv pill then 6 pill later 2]get a texas star 667v and be done the 2nd option is nice however it limits ya to what radio ya can use with it.most exports would be too much for it dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

The 25 would drive that 667 really well. If your set on a 2 pill Texas star 350 would work. Thank you for your service friend. |

X-Force makes the TNT 350HD. Two 2879's, built in fan, good filtering and rock solid construction. Your average peaked and tuned 2 watt deadkey 20 watt swing single final cb should see around 300 watts from this amp on high. Kenny CEF491 Reading the mail around Indianapolis Indiana!

If you are set on getting a straight 6 later I would go with a single transistor amp. I drive my 8-pill with a Texas Star 250 with the power cut way back because the 250 is really more than I need. You can drive the snot out of straight 6 with a 2 pill if you want...I just don't like to push an amp that hard. I hear guys all the time that have to take a brake after talking for a few minutes to let their amp cool down. One local always says his amp is hot enough to cook a buffalo. A 6 pill competition amp will take it but not live as long. The small amount of power you gain from driving it hard (a lot of it is just harmonics) probably won't be noticeable on the other end and will degrade the quality of your audio. A dirty signal looks impressive on a watt meter but won't help you get out. The meter only sees power. Harmonics are power...just not useful power. What shaft length is the 10k that you ordered? If you plan on mounting it behind the cab the coil will need to be above the cab if you're running power. If it's not you will have high reflect and see a high swr with the box on. I don't mean to preach and I'm not even close to an expert but I learned some of this the hard way and like to help when I can. |
