Tech 808 I was just given a PC78XL that is doing the same thing.real low RX. I can hear real close stations though....Radio was new last fall.mounted in a logging truck so High vibration area.I hooked this radio to my Equipment same thing.Low RX.My coax is good beam is good power supply is good. According to this person who owns the radio it happened all the sudden not to say it didn't happen gradually and he didn't notice though. I also tried an external speaker..with radio apart no tell tell smells either... tnx fer any help |

Without having the radio I can only take a wild guess. If the radio is known to be good (perform's well at/in other installation's) I can only guess it is a grounding problem. Is everything ie: Antenna, Radio, Coax, Meter's, Power Supply, External Speaker if used, ALL connected to a SINGLE POIMT GROUND to the car/truck/vehicle frame? If all of the above is correct then it is time to have it checked out by a radio tech to find the problem. Hope this help's, Lon~Tech808 N9CEF CEF#808 Radio Enthusiast!
