How much loss difference is there between the ca 400 coax and the tv hardline cable per 100 feet? I was just wondering which would perform better. I have tv hardline and I was thinking of getting the ca 400 if it does better.

What size hardline?? If it's around 1/2" it has way less loss than ca400, but at anything smaller in size you're better going with the ca400.

BTW I use a length of 5/8" tv hardline (had to make adaptors for pl-259) on my 2m antenna with no troubles at all.

If what you have is 1/2" I think I still have some pl-259 style plugs designed for it

TECH 237 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE VERY USEFULL INFORMATION. YOU HAVE SAVED ME A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE. I HAVE THE HALF INCH HARDLINE, ABOUT 500 FEET LONG UP THE HILL. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THAT LENGTH WITHOUT PUTTING SEVEN SPLICES IN THE LINE. THE LINE WAS GIVE TO ME. I HAVE A 1.1 SWR. I AM USING AN I MAX 2000 ANTENNA. I AM ALWAYS LOOKING TO LEARN MORE ON HOW TO GET OUT BETTER OR RECEIVE BETTER. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU AND ALL OTHERS FOR THE HELP AND MAY GOD BLESS.

Hardline??? Hardline usually comes in 10 or 20 foot sections and is bolted together. Could you actually mean Heliax?

833 - not really. Where I work we get Hardline (or so the label on the rolls states) in 1000ft rolls. Often we end up with ends of roll with around 100ft left on them. Too short for our usage. I try to snag them when I can for use here at home..

Charliebrown I know I have 1 joiner for 1/2 hardline if you need one.

Simon,

Hardline does not come on a roll. Hardline is rigid sections that are straight. If it comes on a roll, it is semi-rigid at best. Andrew coined the term 'Heliax' for its line of semi-rigid coax cables. That is the confusion.

Heliax is very rigid, but it CAN be bent. Hardline cannot be bent. To go around a corner with hard line, you must install a flange and then a elbow, then another flange and continue from there.
