I have a Galaxy DX-2517 driving a boomer 600 mobile amp(1*1446 driving 4*1446), the base dead keys 2 watts and swings 58 watts pep. Today I took the cover off my amp and where the SO-239 connector on the antenna or output side of the amp connects to the circuit board it was all burnt. The wire is not burned at all, just the circuit board where the SO-239 connects into it, its burned about a 1/2 inch circle and half way thru the board. I don't know a whole lot about circuits, maybe I was over driving the amp, or a cold solder joint or something. The rest of the amp inside was perfect, any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

You are over driving it about double in my opinion. 20-25 watts pep would be about max for that old boomer. The 2 watts deadkey in is good. Also, it needs a fan on it if you're not using one already. Sounds like it has been getting pretty hot. |

You are over driving it about double in my opinion-!!!!!! how about overdriving that poor little 1446 by about 45 watts. YIKES. you should've SMELLED that thing cooking. the 1st resistor is probably BLACK & well twisted from the heat also! |
