Using Galaxy 33Hp new version with X-force X-400M with varible power knob into 102 inch whip. Putting about 3 Watts into the X-force and cannot see any carrier at the receiving station just swing.Receiving station receives S-9 swing but no carrier strenght 0. Power knob on X-force is set just below half power. Anyone know why there is no carrier just swing? |

try increasing the dk a little more. the comp amps can handle a little more dk.id try 6 watts then get a radio check if they tell ya its muffled then lower it to 5 watts.but imho sounds like your underdriving it dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

the 'm' designation used to be on the 1x4 amps. STILL don't understand why they put the variable knob on any of these amps.....if you don't run 'em FULL POWER, they eventually burn out. what kind of 'swing' watts are you seeing? 500-600 on rms meter or 800-900 on PEP meter? try the knob FULLY clockwise, keeping the DX33HP turned down to 2 or 3 watts. if you still get no carrier, try keying up & turning the knob to see if you get any carrier. if not, the pot may have burned out. if the amp was bad, you'd get NO output. if the keying transistor was bad, you'd get NO output....so either variable too low, or burned out. DON'T put any more INPUT to the amp then what it takes to get about 200-250 watts carrier from the amp. and that should be 2-3 watts. |
