Ok heres the deal got an icom 746 base and a galaxy 99v I have the 746 hf antenna hooked to a maco 5000 gp how can i throw the galaxy in line without changing coax all the time? Can i use a coax switch in reverse and just switch between radios? thx in advance! Joe |

yes you can reverse the coax switch to run two radios off the same antenna or one radio into two antennas , it works either way.

I have used my switch for just that reason for years, you should be fine.

There are devices out there that will allow both radios to receive at the same time, but drops out one radio completely when you transmit on the other radio.
I removed them some years back from a Water Rescue Group (they had 27MHz Marine Radios using one) as it meant that they were breaking a rule that stated they had to monitor one frequency 24/7 without interruption (27.88Mhz - Emergency Call Channel) and went to two antenna 50ft apart and 20ft difference in height.
In your case, they would work great.

i was thinking of using that dosy switchbox because it matches other components in my all rack mounted station. it would be very easy to put labels over their writing to look very nice. see any issues with that? I will be running the icom 746, galaxy 99v and a galaxy 34t I just love the thought of switching between my radios instead of them collecting dust on the shelf. 73's |

Was it the shakespeare automatic switch? I seen this on ebay switches between two radios automatically operates off 12v looks interesting not sure of power handling though, but in my case 100w cont. maybe 300 max is ok, my amps run after the switch anyways |

I seem to remember a homebrew project for such a switch that appears in the ARRL handbook perenially. |
