Which one: the IC 7000, IC 706MKII, IC 756 Pro, Kenwood TS 2000 or Kenwood TS-570DG ? And is Ten Tek a decent brand, e.g. Juniper ? ~ Joe AKA AC2CH |

Ten Tec is generally considered a high end manufacturer of radios made in the USA (TN). But we really need to know what you intend to do with the radio to recommend one. |

ten tec is in a whole 'nother class....no vhf notwithstanding. the 756pro3 at 'discontinued' prices could be a REAL STEAL....up to 6m only. the ic7000 if that's where your price range ends. 706mk2G if that's your price LIMIT. forget the 570.....as for the 2000....see the 756pro3 instead. if you're asking that question, you're probably missing the vhf contest this weekend.... |

I just bought a Kenwood TS 2000 for $1,125 and a Yaesu FT-707 @ $177.00 ( because I could not pass up the price) for a backup or the office. Did I do well? Joey AC2CH |

Just remember that although these all-in-radios are great space savers they do have some cons. 1) If anything fails you are generally off all bands, not just one or two. 2) Most, if not all can only monitor one band at a time, so you could not be working dx on 20m while listening for a 6m or 10 m opening. This is why, although I have and use a 706, I also have an IC-730 HF radio and an IC-208 2m/70cm radio in the shack. Not to forget the HTX-100 10m radio.
