both ways feed the antenna vertically. to feed it horizontally, the feed would be at the bottom, where your coax in diagram is going down the mast, again in either form. conventional thinking is diagram 'B' would shed snow & ice better then diagram 'A'. i think 'A' gives a smaller 'appearance' to the neighbors. i found an mfj259b to be better then my old mfj259 in getting resonance & correct feedpoint impedance, even with 4 & 5 elements....2 & 3 elements was extremely difficult to get impedance matched as best swr was usually close to 2:1 without a matching section installed. direct feed with more elements is so much nicer..... |

Hi Bluebird Try a 72" piece of of rg 6 75 ohm coax between the element feed point and youre 50 feed line to build a broad banded transformer. reg, tv stuff for up to 1000 watt or rg 11 for any other power you can afford aka.999,999,999,999,999 watts. Now you wont have to ever worry about corona discharge on this antenna either. The begining of the quad http://lists.contesting.com/_towertalk/2002-11/msg00393.html 73 Ray/Hawk-Eye DE KF4GYP
