Ok so I have icom 706 radios both in the mobile and base. I have adapters to turn the modular plug into a standard icom 8 pin round. I have been toying around with echo boxes and roger beeps etc. How to i wire this up? my d104 desk mic is wired so pin 1 supplys power to the d104.. im stumped. can an external echo box be added? maybe even a simple 8 to 4 pin conversion might help? ideas techs? |

If you use an echo box on ham bands, be prepared to be jumped on. Make you own adaptor from an ethernet cable, a 8 pin socket and ethernet floor mount jack. I plug the cable into the jack and the RJ45 socket on the 706, then play mix and match with the 8 wires from the mic socket to make it work with my Turner Desk mic. RJ45 1 - +8v at 10mA 2 - Up/Down 3 - AF from radio 4 - PTT 5 - Mic ground 6 - Mic 7 - Gnd 8 - Squelch Tech237 N7AUS Chipmonks roasting on an open fire Hot sauce dripping from their toes.

the 706's i have are modded for 11 meter so hence the noise toys! I now also have an icom 746 with the the 8 pin round. figuring this out is a bear! pin 1 shorting will smoke the regulator in the radio! i did make the adaptor from rj45 to 8 pin works great! |
