it's a 3 element beam. maybe not optimum, but pretty good performance AND reliability for what it costs. nowhere near the 11db they claim, but around 6 dbd, or 'double your output TWICE'. 20x2 = 40 x2 = 80. the 4 element may get you another 'double', or 160 watts ERP. sorry. even their claim of 11db would only equate to less then 15x the power, or less then 300 watts ERP. on the other hand, don't let that discourage you from putting up a beam if you have the space & resources to do so! yes bruce, the original 'mr wilson', later 'mr maco' & now 'mr gyzmotchy' apparently attended JGU-jo gunn university & majored in MYOP & RTR (Make up Your Own Physics & Radio Theory Rules). |

I own a set of maco 3's. They are a nice beam but like Pat said, you will NOT see anywhere near the 11db gain they claim. When they were up I think it was close to 6db like Pat said. I really like mine an they worked wonders. Now mind you, they were only 28ft off the ground with only 12w SSB going into them and I have talked to almost all 50 states here from MI. the other nice part about the 3's is that you can run a regular TV rotor to turn them Now I just have to find more coax so I can get them back into the air Tech565 Net and Asst.
