I'm not sure were i read or heard about removing the top of a solarcon and replacing it with a whip 102" but i can't remember what good would this do. Can someone explain abit about? CEF#1021

It will detune the A99 so much that you won't be able to use it on 10 or 11m. Stick to the stock, shorter fiberglass element. |

The only advantage I can see is that it would be more flexible than the fiberglass piece it replaced. But, you would have to cut it to length or it will never tune on 11 meters. |

that was a trick that used to be done on the original 2 piece shakespeare big sticks of the 1970's. actually it was using a full size fiberglas whip on top. sometimes you had good swr, sometimes not. did it improve anything? doubtful. will it work on an a99? 3 piece antenna vs 2 piece, nah. |

or, replace the a99 with a maco v5/8 . |
