I have a new magnum 257 with MOSFETS I just purchased from copper.I am using the stock mic that has been turned up and also the modulation in the radio has been turn up. The radios jumper is set on comm-3 and the radio is connected to a Wilson 5000 trunk mount. The radio works good but the only thing that is not working is the s/Rf meter. Modulation and power are perfect and the radio is on frequency. I have not checked to see if the pot for the meter is turned down all the way but I don't no why it would be. I had it on a dummy load and my meter and the freq counter and all looks good except for the meter. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Try turning around the jumper. When I got mine from copper the copper tech put the jumper in the comm-3 position backwards. As a result I found the same problems you are having, no tx or rx showing on the meter. I turned around the jumper and I have had great results from the radio ever since. Hope this helps, Mike

You got to be kidding me! What would be in the jumper that makes the signal stop before it gets to the meter if the jumper is turned around? Could it be a diode? A diode and resistor? I will see when I go take the radio out of the vehicle and put it on the bench to look at it. This still does not sound right. OK thanks I will try it and if it works I will learn something and if it doesn't I will learn something twice!!!

I got to hand it to you, You are good! Never in my life have I ever had a problem with a jumper doing this to one of my radios. The jumper was tight and I did what you said to do and it works! What I would like to know is why it did this? It looks like a regular jumper just like the ones in computers and any other radio. I have had them in both ways in other radios and this has never happened. I want to thank you again for your expertise. If you can explain why this happens I would appreciate it. Thanks again...

I am only speaking from experience. Your radio may or may not have the same problems mine did. I couldn't believe it when I reversed the pin and the meter started working. Good luck I hope you find a quick and easy fix like I did.
