I want to mount my Preator 10K antenna on my 2000 Toyota Tacoma pick-up. The antenna has a 27" shaft. I don't want to use a mag mount or drill a hole in my roof. I was thinking about using the bedrail or the bed for the mounting location. Any advice? |

I think they sell a mounting bracket so you can mount it on the bed rail. 1. make sure the antenna is higher than the cab. 2. make sure it has a good ground. and as with any antenna make sure the swr is set properly personaly I would use the bumper on the driver side Flying High and Flying Proud!!!!!!!! Actually mounting it low on the bumper will work against you. The SWR will change as the antenna moves closer to and the away from the body. Also the body shields the antenna and most bumpers today have very little metal in them. If I recall the vehicle correctly, it has a third brake light on the rear of the roof and an L bracket secured via that might be a good compromise. Simon Tech237 N7AUS . I never thought of that. so every body that has it mounted like that on the bumper said they could not talk verry far while driving because their antenna is bent far back and their swr is constantly changing now it makes sense to me Flying High and Flying Proud!!!!!!!! CEF# 1028

I had a friend that ran dual pred 10k's off the box of his truck. used the stake holes and had one mounted in each back corner. He was runnin a viking 3.2 box an his SWR was nearly flat across all 40 Tech565 Net and Asst. Net controller CVC#38 Ham#243

Tech565, I don't have any stake holes on my truck bed. I want to keep the antenna as close to the center of the truck so that it doesn't become directional. Stargun makes a mount that bolts onto the front of the bed, and there is another mount called the "boss hawg" that I was thinking about using. |

Oh ok. Either one of the mounts you have mentioned will work fine. Just make sure to run a ground from one of the bolts down to the frame for good measure Tech565 Net and Asst. Net controller CVC#38 Ham#243
