looking for real world hands on experiance with Gizmotchy beams. they have been around forever but on the forum i never really see any mention of them. i have been thinking of getting a 6 element Gizmotchy. does the style of radial mounting give you true horizontal & vertical performance and how would it stack up aganst a 6 element Signal Enginnering Quad would it be a blow out or just a slight gain difference. looking for sumthing instead of a laser 400 to put up. looking to maximize this next cycle # 24 probaly will be my last saddly. |

REAL WORLD .... Any beam on a boom of 12, 24 or 36 foot will have the same gain as any other of the same length boom. TRUE QUADS will be 2 DB better ..... So a Gismatchy will equal a cushcraft or a hygain or a jogunn as long as the boom length is the same. As for the feed system it dose give you both vert and horz ..... several 6 meter ones are being used here for SSB/FM with good results. Just don't beleve gain numbers because they all lie .... On 6 since 66

yup i hear & belive you on the gain figs. was woundering if that design with the 2 45 degree elements and 1 straight vertical element would work as well as the regular cross vertical horizontal. i just know that in this area it seems like jo-gunn & maco have a lock on the beam market & i refuse to buy again either, one is over priced and gain figures grossly miss represented and the other i had a set and was not impressed with the consruction. Gizmotchy has been around scence CB radio but it just seems you never see any up or even anybody out in DX land say they use them. they look well constructed & simple to assemble. true Quads are the king but will that extra 2 DB make that much difference in range groundwaving & DXing.i was hoping for sum feed back maybe with some 11 meter operaters here that might have a set or had a set and could maybe compair them too something else they may have used. but thanks for the FEED BACK BRUCE |

I doubt it will work as well but you have one beam with both vert and horz and thats a plus .... From the few on 6 here they do work with a few drawbacks ... that you would not have on cb .... The problem on the 6 meter one is SSB is on 50.125 mhz and FM is on 52.525 so even though they are getting some gain you have to pick which you want the most gain on.... bummer. Bruce On 6 since 66
