--Hi, all. Can anyone recommend a good fan that blows out? I have an RCI-2950DX that I use for a beacon 24 hours a day, and there is one component that gets quite hot, the transistor is "Q6", and is a "B827". Right now, I am cooling the part with a nine inch fan (the bottom cover is off of the radio and the fan is simply positioned above it, blowing down). Can somebody tell me a fairly high CFM fan, 12VDC powered, 3 to 5 inches, that blows out? I plan on mounting the fan in the location of the external speaker. I will probably just cut out the metal where the speaker holes are. --I bought a computer fan off of Ebay, but it blew in. When I went to reverse the leads to reverse the airflow, something in the fan smoked and I destroyed the fan. I figured it was like those little DC motors that go the opposite direction when the leads are reversed, but luckily, I only paid about three bucks total for the fan. --One final thing, does it matter if the airflow flows a certain direction, or not? For some reason, I have it stuck in my head that the airflow should blow out from the radio into the room, instead of moving the air from the room into the radio. Thanks for any help. |

--Lon, thanks for that article. Nice read even if you don't have a beacon. |

Maybe you could install 2 fans side by side, 1 blowing air in and the other sucking air out. I would somehow put a filter on the intake fan to keep dust from setting on the inside of the radio. Just My Thoughs if it counts for anything 73 George/KI4NBE/Starface CEF Ø476/CVC ØØ14/CEF HAM Ø181 CEF Southeast Net Controller
