Hello, I notice that my cobra 148 gtl came with the brightness knob a bit loose and i think is the screw that is a loose that's inside. I thought about sending it to cobra to get it tighten but i can do it myself the only problem is that. I would like to remove the knobs without getting them scratch or anything like that and they feel a bit tight to remove. Can someone tell how i can remove the knobs with getting them scratched? Nightlinks, As tight as the control knobs fit on the shaft's I would guess that the control switch Nut (inside the radio) came loose. I have not used a newer 148GTL so I am not sure if they have a set screw in the outer (Chrome) control knob. If it does try tighting it first. Hope this help's, Lon ~ Tech808 N9CEF ~ EN50mk

Nightlinks:, the newer 148's do not use a set screw, they simply ((press)) on to the shaft, getting them off isn't always the easiest thing to do, but I'll let you in on what I did... try finding a piece of rubber hose, or something similar to press on over the knob, then after you have that in place use a pair of plyers and gently squeez and pull, the rubber should grip the knob and alow you to pull it off, hope this helps. 73's Barakuda318
