Hello,

Like every minute or every few minutes i would get this buzzing sound in my radio speaker. I'm not sure what could be causing it. This happens in my base station. I'm thinking is the antenna that i am using a workman b-100 39" antenna with a 100 FT. of 213 and a cobra 148 gtl stock. The noise even happened when the antenna was inside of my apartment and it does the sound with the antenna in the roof. The antenna is a no ground plane antenna. I wanted to wait until i get my antron 99 to see if it still make that buzzing sound but i want to know if that buzzing sound would mess up my radio.

You can hear the sound on this recording i did fast forward to 50 seconds in the video so you can hear it.

Nightlinks, Is it on one channel or all of them, is it something constant or intermitent, I have noticed in the last few months around were i live i get a carrier and nosie that will get louder and eventually give me 30db's. Belive it or not but after month's of looking it is the train that comes through. i also had some nosie in the reciver for a while and it was only on channel 13 our net channel. Did some more looking around and used a handheld to pin point it and it ended up being a street light 2 houses down. Called the electric company and they showed up i TWO days and replaced the light and i have never had a problem sence. Also addeing some grounds to your system might help aleaveate some of you noise you are getting

Is the buzzing sound there with your anttema & coax connected to the radio?

And also with the antenna Unhooked from the radio?

Where do you have your Radio, Coax and Antenna grounded to?

The same single point ground or seprate ground's?

Suggestion's,

#1 ~ Unhook your coax from the radio and see if you still have the noise with just the radio having power and on.

#2 ~ If you do then take your radio to a friend's house who does not live in the same building as you do and see if you still have the noise in the radio.

If NO noise in the radio hook the Coax up and RECHECK.

Apartment building's can be a NIGHTMARE for CB or Ham radio operator's.

Thanks for the replies,

I unhooked the coax from the radio and stared at it and the needle did not moved at all and did not get a noise either. I probably won't know if it is the antenna until i get my 99A in the next 3 weeks. :-(

I have the radio in my living room right next to the outlet. The antenna is next to a satellite dish but on the building next to were i live. There's cellphone antennas and that's about 50 FT away.

I did not think about the ground because the antenna is no ground plane.

Ok! I found out what was causing the wierd buzzing sounds every few minutes. It was my brother's batter charger for his cordless drill. I removed it and from the outlet and there's no more noise.
