Ok just recieved my Imax2000 w/gpk from ups. Not installing for a few days. Put some clear coat on it. Now the question, because there is so many opinions to this. Going to be mounted on a chimney mount. Base of Imax is going to be 23' from my ground rod. Will this cause rfi. Now not sure if the gpk will stop rfi caused from the ground cable being 23'. Please help. Confused as to puting the ground cable on or not. I am going to be using a RCI-2995 radio so going to put out alot of watts!! |

Plus what is the easiest way to bend the gpk to 30 degrees. See it is recommended, but just can't get it bent right. |

Kufbass, The easiest way I have personally found to bend the 4 corners of the GPK kit/bracket is to place each corner of the bracket in a bench vise and bend to 30° Hope this help's, Lon ~ Tech808 N9CEF ~ EN50mk

When I had the Imax with the radial kit I had no problems with the ground radiating at all but my feed was at 56 feet but the ground went right from the bracket on the imax right to the ground rod no breaks in the ground wire Hope this helps you out!! Thinking of doing this. I am replacing my RG-8 coax with LMR-400. I might use the RG-8 as the ground wire. Think this might help a little better then using #10 cable to prevent rvi-tvi. I am thinking this because the RG-8 has ground shielding in the cable. Would this work?? Plus think the cable inside RG-8 is thicker then #10 cable. |

well cant comment on the gpk.however i must say that a chimmney mount is risky .theres a local here that had his imax on a chinney mount, and the last severe wind storm we had not only took down his antenna but also took down his chimmeney and damaged his roof.id opt for a tri pod on the roof. dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

Just put up the Imax. Darn was scary at times with the balance of a Imax and a 10'pole. Holding it high enough to get the chimney mount. So you might be right Dale of the chimney mount damage. It is a old house and did have a shakesbeare big stick up there before. Now I hooked up the ground wire to the base of the antenna. Should I move it and put it to the bottom of the 10'pole,or would it not make a diference. Got my dream system going now. RCI-2995,lmr-400,and Imax2000!!! |
