I've read many post on the Copper Forum that says cutting the center leg of TR3 will disable the automatic pre-amp that comes on when you turn the amp on. My question is, how the heck are you supposed to get to TR3 let alone the center leg? I've opened my KL-300 up and found TR3 sandwiched between two other "things". |

This_is_nascar, First off WELCOME to the Copper Forum! An easier way might be to add a switch that will allow you to use it if needed or turn it off. If you want to use the pre-amp independently of the TX amp, in the KL300p, you can open the circuit at the junction of R2 and Tr2 and install a switch. With the circuit open, Tr2 will not conduct thus keeping the TX amp relay from engaging. The pre-amp relay will still function as it should. Hope this help's, Lon ~ Tech808 N9CEF ~ EN50mk
