I'm thinking about buying this antenna and the "cable length for optimum performance" is 78' does that mean you can't use a coax or over 78 feet? I was thinking about buying that antenna with 100 feet of cable with 2x 3 feet jumpers for my swr member and the tvi filter.

I had a Midland one which was about the same as the workman and found no real problem with coax. What they are doing is using the coax as part of the matching ....
I wound a coil of 10 turns of coax at the bottom of my antenna to form a balum and it worked fine.

The midland one was about 40 inches tall and not a good antenna .... IT DID WORK JUST NOT LIKE A A-99 .... but if you need to hide a antenna it will get you on the air.
