Now this is what i call a CB Base antenna!!!!! Mr,Coily EXCALIBUR Base! a bit pricey at $600.00, but still holy :0 anyone have one of these? he claims 2db over an imax 2000 and 10kW handling. i'm wondering how well it works at stock cb power levels compared to an imax. It is a 5/8 or .64 wave ( roughly the same thing ). You can only get about 2.5 to 3.0 db gain out of a 5/8 or .64 wave antenna. ( using a quarter wave ground plane as a comparative reference ) It appears to be very well made though. |

Insane CB Base Antenna!!!!.....not really. paid $59 for my maco v5/8 in the mid 80's. and i'd put money on the performance difference NOT BEING NOTICEABLE. if you wanna pay bucks for built like a tank, try an interceptor i10k. but then again, my $59 antenna has withstood 2 hurricanes, i don't know how many blizzards & ice storms, regular wind gusts topping 60 mph, and a lifetime of salt air as i am 1/4 mile from the atlantic ocean. coulda bought 10 maco's for the price of 1 coily....if i'd only known |

Same here, love my Maco v5/8, inexpensive and up now since 2003. survived 65+ gusts and ice. works great on 10 and 11 meters. it is a 5/8 just like the EXCALIBUR so I would bet the performance is same. I am going to buy another just to keep for down the road before they get too expensive like every thing else now days. |
