Big girl is only 12 months old.Still works with A1 modulation on SSB but only reaching about 80w. Key her up on AM and nothing, but about 10w when i talk. This biggun used to swing over 200w on SSB so i need an idea to give the local tech. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26 703 New South Wales

I would say it speaks "VERY WELL" for RCI since Bob has said many, many times in his Post's here in the Copper Forum and in the Weekly Voice Chat's over the last year that his 2970DX was the "BEST RADIO" he has ever had with NO PROBLEM's! A comment like: doesn't spell much good for RCI is very unfair without knowing ALL of the fact's. WHY blame a radio manufacturer for a problem when the problem could have been in the Coax / Antenna / Meter or a combination of several thing's that could have caused the problem all of a sudden and getting rid of a radio without even knowing or having the radio checked to determine what the problem was? And with Ranger's 2 Year Warranty the problem would have been repaired at NO CHARGE! There are not many companies out there that still offer a 2 year warranty on product's like Ranger does. Ok ....don't get too upset guys. Reason i pawned it was because no tech over here will play with SMT. I did have one lined up to look at it but once he found out it was SMT he pulled the pin. Yeah it's still under warranty but the cost to me to send it to California blew it out of the water. And i mostly run it at 1/2 power which registered at just over 100w so abuse was never an issue. Even when it started playing up it still outperformed my IC-725. Anyway thank for the help ....cheers. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26 703 New South Wales

Sorry i did not address the questions properly. Key up and speak on SSB output went from over 200w to about 80w at full rf gain and draw from power supply dropped from 30a to under 20a. Other stations still gave A1 reports. So seemed to work on SSB. Key radio on AM and no carrier, no draw from power supply but talk and it modulated, draw from power supply was about 10a. Key on fm and nothing. No power from the supply and nothing when i talk. If it's an easy fix i'll get it out of hock. If not i'll get my 725 overhauled. Thanks Guys.
