Turned on my 2970 radio this evening and it is stuck in TX mode. Anyone seen this problem before?? Thanks in advance! |

I have seen it when a mic cord develops a short.
Is it still stuck in the TX mode with the microphone disconnected from the radio?

Yes, it is stuck in TX mode with or without the mic connected. Here is what I see:
The amp board is working fine with full output, and whith the amp board completely disconnected the problem still exists. Checked the mic jack as well, seems to be fine. Anyone seen this problem before and can help??
One more thing, no TX audio out, just a carrier. Must press mic to get the audio to pass.
A friend told me to check Q38, replaced it with same results. Q51 collector voltage only .9 volts on AM TX, should be around 4 volts. SSB TX voltage is 13 volts which is correct according to info I have here. Replaced Q51 with same results. This is as far as I have gotten.
One more thing, I was talking on my Mark III set up with 200 watt tube box and switched back to the 2970 when this problem occurred. I am wandering if I you can overload the the other radio even if it is off?? Both radios are connected to a heavy duty coax switch. I rarely use the Browning so this has me wandering if I may have overloaded something in the other radio.
