I have a new s-9-50 with the "new" board and was wondering if they can be made to slide more on the course? I'm unable to get to in between ch's such as 27.380. The Course only slides about 30 in each way. Is this only with new boards or is there a mod? Other than that this is a "very hot" radio with a good rx. i was amazed at the swing this thing has. Does a solid 50w pep. Very nice radio. Also feels/has a lot better quality than was expecting. If I could lock the fine and add more course slide this would be a A+ radio. |

If the course slides 30 kcs then you should easily be able to get to any freq. ending with a zero.Example clarifier centered on 27.385 you should be able to get to 27.370 one way and 27.390 the other.I have a SS158EDX which with the course I can easily drop down to the zero's such as 380 or up to 390.Maybe the freq readout doesn't change when you shift the clarifier such as the 158 does but as you said with a 30 kc shift the zero's should be no problem at all. Interesting note this is my 451th post on copper which = my CEF # 451 lol Bob CEF451/VE1CZ Robert L. Spicer The days of radio are just beginning!

You need to go 5khz in either direction to get "in between channels". Should be no problem to do with the s-9. I get 7khz with my S-9. I would send the radio back for a repair before I tried a mod. Kenny CEF491 Reading the mail around Indianapolis Indiana!

Found the reason for the limited "slide". It was only a issue on newer board s9's. |

No problem for 28.380. Would be kind of neat to go near 40mhz but my antenna might not agree with it. Kenny CEF491 Reading the mail around Indianapolis Indiana!

darn ..... just realized I said 38.380.. I meant ch 38 then sliding in between 38 and 37 or 27.380. Oh boy im getting old... Anyway it seems this was only for the "newest" of S-9's that came out in the last month or so with the new board.. |

hello, I have a Magnum S9-175 as a card: PCBX 0619R6. This card is very different with 0619R4. Indeed, the coils L19 & L21 are not present on the card. Points to connect an external frequency counter are not shown, as for the other versions of S9. I looked everywhere on the Internet, but on any site talking about this card PCBX 0619R6. Magnum S9-175 comes with a diagram of this card, which is based on an S-980. My questions are simple: how to set the s9-175 at the clarity and frequency shift? how it's done all the other settings on the S9-175? Hoping for a response, thank you all. Marc |
