Well I finally found a round tuit and did some RF bonding on my old Lumina.I used the braid from some old surplus coax cable and made some straps. I found that the doors, trunk lid and hood not making a very good ground connection.I put one strap on each door to the chassis and one from the trunk lid and the hood to the chassis.All that's left to do is bond the exhaust and the frame and the block and that should do it for now.I am seeing a little drop in noise level and RX seems to be up a bit. I will post my results when I get the rest of it gouunded.

Just curious what kind of radio and antenna your using and what type of mount?

Radio: 158EDX
Antenna: Wilson 1000 mag mount.By using bonding or grounding straps at the doors trunk lid and hood it ties these parts into the rest of the car.Now I am not talking electrical ground but RF ground.Seems to have cut down on my noise a bit and improved the RX also.All that's left to do is strap the exhaust,engine block and frame,and I am using 1/2 inch copper braid straps but you can also use the shield from some old RG8 etc coax . What this does is to tie in all of the metal parts of the car into one large ground plane.In most cases most doors,trunk lids and hoods are not tied in to the rest from an RF stand point because the hinges cause these to be insulated from the rest of the car.

OH I understand exactley what your working on. I bonded my hood and trunk lid of my old car when I had my setup in it. I used 1 inch wide braided strap on the hood and 2 inch wide flat solid aluminum strap on my trunk lid. Got pics in the members pic area.
Not sure how much it help but I do know that the setup I have now was the same setup back then and the performance was much better. I hate having the best mobile setup ever and then having tobuy a new ride and start from scratch!
I was just curious about your project. I know it is no easy task and I hope it works out for the best for you. good luck
