I recently purchased a Voyage VR9000 from Copper. It arrived with a frequency range from 26.895 to 28.305. bands A-C duplicate coverage of bands D-F with the exception of 26.895 - 26.965 on band A. I have read that that this rig will cover 25.565 - 28.305 when fully modified. The resistors on the foil side of the board have been removed prior to my receiving this radio. What if anything is lacking from the mod to provide me the lower frequencies? I read something about switching one of the pins on the PLL chip but is was very vague and no details were given. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated not only to myself but perhaps to others with the same issue! |

Remove Top of Case ( Reveal Solder Side of Board ). Directly back from the Channel Selector you will see 4 or 5 small resistors (1/8 watt). These resistors jump across the PLL. They are very obviously shorting the PLL Section out. Remove these resistors. When you turn the radio back on, you will have coverage from 25.565 to 28.305. You lose some of your 10 meter coverage, but gain a LOT of lower frequencies. I believe Band C or D is the CB Band. Found this on the net. By the way you describe your radio this mod has been done. I'd contact Copper and ask them what the go is. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26 703 New South Wales

The removal of the resistors has been done but unless I'm miss informed something isn't right. Currently frequency is as follows..... Band A 26.895 - 27.335 Band B 27.345 - 27.785 Band C 27.795 - 28.235 Band D 26.965 - 27.405 Band E 27.415 - 27.855 Band F 27.865 - 28.305 Perhaps someone else with this radio can report if this is normal coverage for this model with mod. I have read that coverage down to 25.565 can be expected from this unit. I'm at a bit of a loss for the solution. Any help greatly appreciated! |

mine is as follows A-25.615-26.055 B-26.065-26.505 C-26.515-26.955 D-26.965-27.405 E-27.415-27.855 F-27.865-28.305 bought it from copper, they did the conversion. i'd rather have more 10 meter and less of the other. aj you dont need an amplifier, you need a BIGGER ANTENNA
